During your visit, you’ll experience a visual delight in the 1902 home and studio of artist Susan Nicholas Gephart. Built by a school teacher and located directly across from the first Bellefonte High School, it was the perfect place to raise her three children over the last twenty five years. Now, the walls are adorned with beautifully framed art throughout three floors. The entry features rich woodwork and French doors opening into the first gallery. The living room displays antiques from the H.G. Wells side of her family, along with colorful Impressionistic landscape painting in all sizes and mediums.

Seeing the first floor can fulfill your love of art with this prolific artist’s work, but you will want to climb the lovely oak steps and discover the paintings above.

The third floor attic pastel studio has a beautiful view looking through a giant pecan tree. Looking out, you can see the inspiration for many of Susan’s paintings; below, the double-lot terraced summer gardens sleep. Within this space you will discover the markings of art made from pure colors of pastel and more. You may even find a holiday gift to take home.

Painting the landscape and sharing her love of art through teaching are two of Susan’s passions. She has painted award winning landscapes for 40 years, and her deep appreciation of the earth can be seen in her colorful impressionistic pastel and oils. Susan is committed to bringing art to the public and creating environmental awareness through her landscape painting.

Lewisburg Stroll Through the Arts, Nov 4, Susan feature artist at Faustina’s demonstrating.

 ”Stroll Through the Arts” in downtown Historic Lewisburg on Nov 4, 6 to 9 pm. This 15th Annual Event will feature over 20 artists in the downtown shops. Susan will be at Faustina’s Gallery and Frame demonstrating in pastel and oils. Susan Nicholas Gephart, has been painting award-winning landscapes “Plein Air” and teaching for over thirty years. She is a 1979 BFA graduate of PSU and a Distinguished Alumni of Montgomery County Community College. Susan is president for the Central Pa Pastel Society and an active member of the Farmland Preservation Artists. 

Susan’s joy for the enriching the artistic spirit is demonstrated in her art teachings with all ages. Her deep appreciation of the earth is seen in her colorful, impressionistic pastels and oils, mostly painted “Plein Air”. 

Susan has shown with The Pastel Society of America, The Art of the State of Pennsylvania, won Best of Show in The Central Festival of the Arts Images, and is in the permanent collections of The Penn Stater Conference Center, Penn College, Lock Haven University, and The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art. Check Out Exhibit Focus on the Landscape by Susan Nicholas Gephart, at PSU HUB Gallery

This exhibit is of 33 recent pastel and oil paintings and is up until December 6th, 2009.

 

As a 1979 BFA graduate of PSU, Susan Nicholas Gephart’s landscapes were featured in 1987 at The HUB Gallery of The Penn State University in a show entitiled, “Focus on the Landscape”.  Now in 2009 Susan has returned with an exhibit entitled the same.  With more than 30 years of ”Plein Air” painting and exploration of color and atmosphere, Susan’s artistic creativity has captured her love, joy and the beauty of the Earth’s ever changing sky, water and land.

All are welcome to attend this event with light refreshments being served.
